State Titles will be held at Nudgee College again this year from Thursday 2nd July through to Sunday 5th July.  They have changed the format this year so that the competition will run for four days straight and the finals will be played at Nudgee on the Sunday. 

 

Accommodation for players is still being finalised and more information will be posted as it comes to hand.

Playing Junior Rugby

Walla Under 6 -8

 

Modified game – seven a side rugby, No tackling, two handed touch. Focus is on participation, safety and enjoyment for all boys and girls. A generous advantage should be considered to allow for a free flowing game.

Non contested scrum and lineout.

Scrum and lineout usage should be discussed prior to the commencement of the game between coaches and match officials according to the player skill level. Regardless of interpretations on game day, safety and enjoyment for all players is paramount.

 

Mini Rugby Under 9 -10

Modified game – ten-a-side rugby, carefully monitored introduction to tackle, ruck and maul. Focus on technical aspects through on field education & encouragement and participation, safety and enjoyment for all boys and girls.

Non contested scrum and lineout.

 

 

Midi Rugby Under 11 -12 

Midi rugby is a stepping stone to the full game. It is played between twelve or fifteen players on a standard size field, with more elements of the under 19 game being introduced. It has been designed to teach the Game principles of Possession, Go Forward, Pressure, Support with greater emphasis on the principle of Continuity. It also teaches the individual skill of passing and receiving; running and evasion; Contact; Kicking and tackling; as well as the game elements of ruck, maul, scrum and lineout.
